Welcome and Ahlan Wa Sahlan to the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment (FKAB)!
FKAB was established on the 4th of January 2016 and as the 9th faculty in Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), we are the youngest faculty in USIM. In FKAB, we strive to nurture and develop students and staff to be creative and innovative, such that they are prepared to become future leaders in the engineering and architecture fields. The main mission of the faculty is to spearhead the integration of Naqli (revealed) and Aqli (rational) knowledge in everything that we do, encompassing teaching and learning, research & development and innovations, student activities, and many more. This is consistent with the university’s philosophy, which emphasizes that the integration of Naqli & Aqli knowledge and virtues are the bedrock of an outstanding generation and knowledgeable society. Our aim is therefore to produce graduates with the attributes of al-qawwy (professional) and al-amin (integrity) and you can become part of it.
The faculty currently has two departments, which are the Electrical and Electronic Engineering department and the Architecture department. The former offers Electrical Engineering program and Electronic Engineering program at the undergraduate level, and Master of Science in Engineering and PhD of Engineering at the postgraduate level. Similarly, the latter offers an Architecture program at the undergraduate level, and Master of Science in Built Environment, and PhD in Built Environment at the postgraduate level. Our academic programs are under strict monitoring by the respective professional bodies and regulatory bodies and are accredited with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), which is the signatory of the Washington Accord (WA), Board of Architects Malaysia (BAM), and Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
Our highly experienced academic staff come from various backgrounds, including industries, other higher learning institutes, and government agencies from all over Malaysia. 90% of our academic staff are with PhD qualifications and students can expect a high-quality education in our faculty. Furthermore, 30% of our academic staff are registered professional engineers and professional architects and surely with their wealth of experiences in industrial practices, they can impart practical knowledge and skills to students.
FKAB achieves one of the highest rates of graduate employability in the university. Our yearly graduate employability consistently achieves a *100% employability rate. With various activities for students carefully crafted to add values to students’ portfolios throughout their study period in FKAB, various employers have shown interest in employing our students within the first 6 months of their graduation. This is a remarkable achievement, for such a young faculty.
Once again, thank you for visiting FKAB’s website. I invite you to explore more about our faculty, and we do hope the information shared on the website will help you.
Come and join us!
